Mike Sarasti, CIO of DoIT

Michael Sarasti will now lead Information Technology in addition to continuing the work he has been doing for the past two years of driving innovation, modern technology practices, process improvement, collaboration and customer service. Mr. Sarasti has more than a decade of government experience evaluating government processes, analyzing performance metrics, understanding user needs and improving the usability of resident services. Most recently he has led efforts to transform digital services, release open data, and build process improvement throughout the City of Miami. He has a master's degree in Interactive Media and New Communications Technologies from Florida State University and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Florida International University.

•Deputy CIO for the City of Miami – a city with more than 425,000 citizens, an annual operating budget of $1B, a $17M Information Technology budget, and 5,000 employees. As a member of the information technology leadership team he assists in planning, developing and implementing a comprehensive citywide information technology strategy, technical architecture, and creates and execute short-term and long-term plans and projects to be implemented within the architectural framework.
 
• Former Founder/CEO for SOS IT Services, Inc. a Technology company that became the IT department for Small to Midsize companies in the South Florida area.
 
• Former CIO/Corporate Director of ERP for Watsco, Inc. – a Fortune 1000 HVAC company with $1.9B in annual sales, 16 subsidiaries, hundreds of locations throughout 36 states and 3000+ employees.
 
• Former VP of Information Technology for Beverage Canners company (acquired by National Beverage Corp.) – the 4th largest branded carbonated soft-drink company in the US in the manufacturing, bottling and distribution of soft-drinks, with $550M in annual sales, 12 manufacturing facilities around the country in 13 states, and 1,200 employees.
