The Historic Preservation Section is
responsible for overseeing the preservation of
the City’s heritage by recommending the
designation of historic sites and
districts. The Section issues Certificates of
Appropriateness for alterations to historic
properties and issues Certificates of Approval
for development activity and tree removal in
environmental preservation districts. It
also administers a new archeological program
that enables the City to retain jurisdiction
over archeological properties within the City.
